dreaming: WAR

Tonight, I dreamed that I was in a war. I don't know if it's a war between who and who, but what's clear is that I'm one of the members. The setting of my dream is in the 1950s. I became a scholar or woman who was clever in war. Not someone who fights on the battlefield, but only helps with speeches and educational assistance to the community.

At that time, me and several people were ordered to evacuate immediately because the enemy was at the forefront of our gate protection. I was ordered by the Commander to carry items and save as many files as possible, selected from files that were considered very important.

When we crossed the border our horse-drawn carriage was intercepted by opposing soldiers. I feel scared and worried. I couldn't hide my fear but the trip leader told me to take off my vest and uniform to look like a commoner delivering/selling book.

Without realizing it, it turned out that the opposing soldiers were my childhood friends. Just call him Thomas. He was forced to become a soldier and move to the opposing camp. But when he saw me, Thomas immediately attacked his friends and became a traitor to save our unarmed group. "I know they would still kill you even if you were unarmed," said Thomas.

Finally, Thomas followed our group to take the books and files to a safer shelter. Previously, Thomas had buried his friends and left his uniform and weapons at the border post.

“I dreamed this would happen,” Thomas said. He said he wanted to return to his home country and meet his family and old friends. He was unhappy being in the opposing camp and killing his own people.

Arriving at the final shelter, Thomas and I packed our things and put them in a safe place. I reported to the commander and said that Thomas was a commoner who was lost and needed shelter. “You don't look like a lost person,” the commander replied.

I met Sivan, my friend who is also a soldier. “I was waiting for you guys to come! You guys did it! Even though I know the borders are very tight. How did you get past the soldiers there?” Sivan asked.

I introduced Sivan to Thomas. "Nice to meet you," Sivan and Thomas shook hands. I'm worried if Sivan realizes that Thomas was a former enemy soldier.

The commander suddenly ordered all of us who had just arrived to take photos. This photo is used as a memento like a historical photo. I was photographed alone at the end next to the ruins of the house. Then the Commander ordered Sivan and Thomas to join.

We posed in a very strange pose because Sivan hugged my neck from behind while Thomas sat on the rock awkwardly. Because I felt grateful to Thomas, I finally stretched out my hand and Thomas accepted it with a smile. So, the photo taken looked like someone was having a love triangle, and the news spread throughout the camp.

"Thank you for extending your hand, I won't look so pathetic in front of them." Thomas said.

I should be the one thanking him because he saved our group from enemy soldiers. This news is known only to me and the coachman. Meanwhile, the other people in the group did not realize this.

For a whole week I heard people gossiping about that photo. My photo involved a love triangle between an intellectual, a soldier and a cowherd. Stupid. Those people should know how brave Thomas was to kill his opponent with his own hands.

Meanwhile Sivan really enjoyed the gossip. “I could smile all day hearing that story,” he said.

Several days passed, we heard the news that the opposing camp had withdrawn and we could return to our homes and meet our families. We were all happy and immediately packed our things to take back home. I am responsible for all the books and files, it would be difficult to pack them all if it weren't for Thomas and Sivan's help.

“After we return home, you should have dinner at my house,” I told them.

Sivan and Thomas looked at each other and answered in unison, "Okay."
