day-35: Happy Birthday My Friend

Yesterday marked the birthday of my dear friend, Tata. We've been friends for almost six years now. Our paths first crossed when we were assigned to work on this island, where we both embarked on our careers at the same office. We then became roommates, and now, fate has brought us back together in the same office and division. Even more coincidentally, we both from Yogyakarta, which might be one of the reasons we get along so well.

But perhaps that's not the defining factor of our friendship. It's not as if our friendship is always harmonious and devoid of conflict. We have our moments of boredom, dislike, and even anger. It would be a lie to say that our friendship is 100% peaceful.

The reason our friendship has stood the test of time is because Tata is a good person. A genuinely kind person who always gives in. Compared to me, who is full of hatred and dislikes getting involved in other people's problems, Tata is always willing to lend her hand. 😃

That's really a good thing.

When I'm struggling, she'll always be there to help me. If someone else asks for her help, she'll gladly offer it. This is very different from me, who would think twice before helping someone else👿. I would consider whether it would affect my life or not, and I would easily say NO to others.

So, it's no wonder that people always think of her as a good person. I admit that she truly is that kind of person.

To me, Tata is like family. If she has any difficulties, I will not hesitate to help her, and she would do the same for me. I am grateful to God for bringing Tata into my life. As a very introverted person who doesn't find it easy to socialize, I was brought together with someone who has the same taste in conversation. We share some of the same humor and topics, and we also have the same hobbies, like our mutual love for cats, Kynos.

People might wonder why I'm always with Tata, but that's just the way I am. Maybe I'm also like my mother. Once I become close friends with someone, we'll always be together. Honestly, I didn't ask for it, but as I get older, I prefer a small but solid circle of friends.

I'm not the type of overprotective friend who needs to be with them 24/7 and monitoring their activities. Or feel disappointed if I'm not involved in their life. That's what makes our friendship different. We understand each other's personal boundaries. I really appreciate boundaries in relationships, and Tata does the same. Maybe it's because she's an Aquarius, she says she's nonchalant. So, neither of us feels like we're being interfered with. That's very important.

I care deeply for Tata as a friend. I cherish her presence in my life. It might feel awkward to express it verbally, but through this writing, this is what I feel. I love all my friends because they have been sincere and accepted me for who I am. I am a strange person full of hatred for the world, and Tata can provide a positive side and remind me that there is always a positive side to everything, even in the worst things.

Thank you for balancing my negative energy with your kind heart, like a fairy godmother. If not for you, I might have become Voldemort, cursing everyone. You are kind to everyone not because you want to gain something, but because that's just who you are. And I will continue to be a rebel wherever I am because that's my true nature, but I can also be good if there are people who remind me and show me that we are not alone in life and that we have to nurture our relationships with others.

Maybe that's all I have to write for today.
